Capitol Reef Hotel

Better than a Capitol Reef hotel, our accommodations allow you to explore Capitol Reef as well as other nearby scenic areas

When you visit south central Utah, do not book accommodations at a Capitol Reef hotel. Instead, reserve a room at the Slot Canyons Inn in Escalante. When you stay with us, you will be an only an hour from Capitol Reef National Park as well as an hour from Bryce Canyon National Park. You will easily be able to visit two national parks as well as nearby Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument and Escalante State Park in the same trip! If there is a day you do not feel like straying very far away from your base camp, the confluence of the Escalante River and North Creek is located on our secluded 160-acre property. Also near our inn you will find a two-tiered waterfall in a private canyon worth exploring.

A Capitol Reef hotel closer to the park cannot offer you the incredible accommodations you will find at the Slot Canyons Inn. All of our rooms offer king or queen beds, TVs and DVD players. Many of our rooms feature jetted tubs, fireplaces and patios. In addition to our rooms, we offer the Isaac Riddle Historic Log Cabin for our guests to rent. Built in 1899, this restored cabin boasts 1,600 square feet of space that includes two queen beds and two hide-a-beds, a full-size kitchen with a dining area, a covered deck overlooking the surrounding valley, a TV, a DVD player and a washer and dryer. The Isaac Riddle Cabin is a charming, historic lodging option not available with Capitol Reef hotels.

Named the “Sleeping Rainbow” by local Native American tribes, Capitol Reef received its name because of its white sandstone domes sitting atop red sandstone cliffs that resemble the dome of the U.S. capitol and other capitol buildings. One of the park’s most striking features is a 100-mile long ripple in the earth’s crust called the Waterpocket Fold, the result of a major geological shift in North America that revealed an ancient, buried fault. The park also contains natural bridges, arches, ancient rock art, narrow canyons, rock monoliths, orchards and the remnants of the town of Fruita. Visitors view the park via numerous hiking trails, a 25-mile scenic drive, or dirt roads appropriate only for four-wheel drive vehicles that explore Capitol Reef’s backcountry, including Cathedral Valley. When choosing your Capitol Reef hotel, choose Slot Canyons Inn so you can explore Capitol Reef and easily visit other nearby scenic areas such as Bryce Canyon and Grand Staircase-Escalante as well.
