The gateway to Grand Staircase-Escalante, national parks, state parks and recreation areas, Utah’s Scenic Highway 12 is an incredibly picturesque journey that takes a week to explore thoroughly. Spanning 124 miles, Scenic Byway 12 passes through some of the most remote scenic areas in the country. It was not until 1985 that the entire route was paved completely. When you explore this one-of-a-kind highway, choose Slot Canyons Inn as your accommodations. We are centrally located along the 124-mile route in the town of Escalante. National park vacations do not get much better than exploring Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef, both of which are only an hour away.
Slot Canyons Inn is a perfect lodging headquarters for hiking trips in the area surrounding Escalante, national parks, or nearby state parks. Your closest hiking option is Escalante State Park, which features nature trails meandering through dinosaur fossils and petrified wood specimens. Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument is home to many hiking opportunities, from slot canyons such as Peek-a-boo and Spooky gulches to Devils Garden, a collection of rock arches, pinnacles and spires in many different shapes and sizes. The most popular hike in Bryce Canyon National Park is a stroll along its rim to view its colorful rock hoodoos. Capitol Reef’s hiking options include ascents to Hickman Bridge and Cassidy Arch as well as walks through narrow canyons, including the Grand Wash and Capitol Gorge.
When you return from a day exploring Escalante, national parks or other scenic locations, you will enjoy unwinding in your well-appointed room in front of a favorite movie or sitting and relaxing in our roof garden. All of our suites and our historic, restored cabin feature TVs, DVD players, and comfortable king or queen-sized beds. The cabin includes a full kitchen, a covered deck, a washer, a dryer and a fireplace. It is an excellent option for small groups since it sleeps up to eight people. Every morning we feed you a fresh breakfast that will give you energy for your hiking adventures in whichever state park or national park you choose to explore in the Escalante area.
