When you tour Scenic Byway 12, stay at Slot Canyons Inn in Escalante. We are located approximately in the middle of the route, an hour from both Capitol Reef and Bryce Canyon. Out scenic 160-acre property on the outskirts of Escalante is home to Indian ruins, petroglyphs, a two-tiered waterfall and a private canyon.

If the Native American ruins on our Escalante property pique your interest in Indian history, visit Anasazi State Park in Boulder, located approximately 27 miles east of Escalante on Scenic Highway 12. The park displays the ruins of one of the largest Anasazi communities west of the Colorado River, which lived there from about A.D. 1050 to 1200. The park’s museum exhibits many ancient relics found in the ruins. Escalante State Park, located only minutes from Slot Canyons Inn features petroglyphs left by the Anasazi. Another spot you can see Escalante area ruins is on the Lower Calf Creek Trail in the Calf Creek Recreation Area. Be sure to pick up a trail guide before you embark on the path so you know where to look for the ruins.

After a day exploring the Escalante area’s ruins and scenery, you will enjoy returning to Slot Canyons Inn to unwind while sitting on our roof garden and admiring the surrounding scenery or relaxing in front of a favorite movie in your exquisite suite.
