One of the favorite area trails is Lower Calf Creek Falls, which follows a creek at the bottom of a scenic canyon and ends at a 126-foot waterfall emptying into a pool, which makes an excellent swimming hole on hot summer days. Before you start the hike, pick up a trail guide at the trailhead, which describes the trail’s rock art, vegetation and historical points of interest. The trailhead is located just off UT 12, 16 miles east of Escalante, Utah.
